Cello Fury
Cello Fury
A cello rock powerhouse featuring three cellists and a drummer, Cello Fury's original music combines the emotive and symphonic sounds of the cello with driving rock beats to create a cinematic, progressive rock sound. A rarity in the music world, Cello Fury appeals to a diverse audience throughout the United States and abroad, performing in venues ranging from concert halls to rock clubs. Continually developing their own unique style of cello rock music, cellists Simon Cummings, Ben Muñoz and Nicole Myers along with drummer David Throckmorton unleash vitality and rhythmic drive in their music and dare to venture past classical expectations. Cello Fury has performed on radio and television, in rock clubs, concert halls, and music festivals such as SXSW, performing for audiences as large as 67,000 and touring throughout 25 states and abroad. As an independent band, Cello Fury has released two albums of original music, "Cello Fury" and "Symphony of Shadows" and performs over a hundred live shows each year. Cello Fury has collaborated with other musicians and artists across genres, ranging from dance, theater, opera and orchestra as well as with rock bands and singer-songwriters.

Past notable shows include entertaining a crowd of 67,000 during an NFL half time show, headlining the Three Rivers Arts Festival, and performing three sold-out shows at the Byham Theater on New Year's Eve. Cello Fury was selected to perform for the "Americans for the Arts" national convention as well as the Pennsylvania Music Educator's Association (PMEA) Annual Conference. Band members performed as cello soloists with Marvin Hamlisch and the Pittsburgh Symphony Pops Orchestra, performing and orchestrating two works for the ensemble. Cello Fury was featured on the cover of the indie music publication, Vents Magazine, was featured on the cover of the Pittsburgh City Paper's "City Guide", and was chosen as one of Skope Magazine's "Artists to Watch". Feature articles on the band have been written in various newspapers throughout the US. Cello Fury will return for a second straight year for an official showcase performance at the largest music festival of its kind in the world, "South By Southwest" (SXSW). In 2013, Thomastik-Infeld Strings became a supporter of Cello Fury, who endorses their products. Cello Fury's music can be streamed online at sites such as Pandora, Spotify, Last.fm, and Rdio and purchased at iTunes, CD Baby, Amazon, and more. Cello Fury is an independent, self-managed band.

Cello Fury has collaborated with many other musicians and artists across genres. The band has backed local and national artists such as B. E. Taylor, Scott Blasey of The Clarks, Tift Merritt, Bill Deasy, Joy Ike, and more, has appeared on soundtracks for indie films and albums. Composers as well as performers, Cello Fury's band members have orchestrated their original works for string and symphonic orchestras, performing as amplified soloists with classical ensembles. Collaborating as multi-disciplinary artists, Cello Fury's original music was featured live in three full-length ballets with Bodiography Contemporary Ballet and also in Texture Contemporary Ballet's production, "Blur". The band's style of rock and classical fusion has become a favorite among dance choreographers in the US and Germany. Cello Fury has worked with theater company, Bricolage Productions, for their "Midnight Radio" show performing as featured musical guests. The ensemble premiered the opera "La Bisbetica Domata" by Efrain Amaya in Italy, which featured Cello Fury on stage as solo instrumentalists, an opportunity which allowed the band to perform solo concerts throughout that country. Cello Fury premiered and recorded two classical works written for their ensemble of electro-acoustic instruments, which are featured on the album, "Other Sun" by composer Nancy Galbraith.
