Throughout his lengthy career, guitar wildman Ted Nugent has reveled in the controversy and criticism that always seems to follow in his path. While there's no denying his exceptional talent on the six-string, his knack for penning arena rock anthems, or his standing as one of rock's top live acts, it's his nonmusical endeavors that have caused the most condemnation from his detractors (his pro-right wing beliefs, pro-gun advocacy, appreciation of hunting animals, etc.). But by the same token, Nugent is a family man and one of the few hard rockers who has admirably stuck by his lifelong anti-drugs and -drink stance throughout his career.

Berlin Way is a Pittsburgh rock band that formed in 2009. Its members draw influence from a wide variety of artists, but the music the band creates most closely resembles that of modern rock bands like The Killers, Phoenix, and Kings of Leon. Earlier this year the band independently released the EP, Drinks.They are continuing to write and record their debut full length album while they continue to play shows throughout the summer.

Andy Mulkerin has described The Long Time Darlings' music as, "straightforward rock and roll somewhere between classic rock and the nineties alternative scene," noting that it, "might not have been out of place on the harder edge of the local scene that brought us The Clarks and The Gathering Field over a decade ago." L.A. Guns started in 1982 as a straightup dirty ass rock n roll band. The band was put together by Tracii Guns in his last year of high school.

The band has had some noteable members such as Axl Rose, Phillip Lewis and Marty Casey, but continues today with band members Jizzy Pearl (the Singer) Jeremy Guns (the Bass Player) Chad Stewart (the Drummer), and of course Tracii Guns (the Guitarist).

L.A. Guns has been a work in progress without an end in sight, continually touring and of course writing and recording a huge variety of rock n roll sounds. Some people believe that L.A. GUNS may be the last true rock n roll band that hasn’t had to rely on outside writers or the help or corporate funding to have continued success.

The notion of “traditional hip hop” has changed forever. Whether you’re talking about genre bending projects from superstars like Kanye and Lil Wayne or new artists like Kid Cudi hip-hop has reached a tipping point and it’s followers are expanding their horizons. Chiddy Bang is a Philly based duo comprised of Chiddy (emcee) and Xaphoon Jones (DJ/producer) who combine elements of indie and electronica with some good al fashioned “spitting”. The result has been described by some bloggers as a “hipsters wet dream”, but Chiddy Bang prefers to think of themselves as “kings of the basement party jam”.

The Dangerous Summer have crafted a throwback to the days when music was charged with hope and contained a much-needed brand of sincerity.

With the heat of summer in full swing, the next stage of Secondhand Serenade’s saga is gearing up for release. Those familiar with the words of John Vesely, the man behind Secondhand Serenade, have lived through his picturesque stories of life’s ups and downs - from the act’s acoustic debut, Awake, to the fuller, and more emotionally complex sounds of 2008’s sophomore A Twist In My Story. Fans have gravitated to John’s heart-on-his sleeve approach and are consistently moved by his tales of life, love and loss that foster universal understanding. It's a true story that Video Killed the Radio Star because music should not be about image. Music should be about the music! I learned the hard way. The new Vanilla Ice is exactly that; no image, no polished made up gimmicks created by record companies. I will never be a puppet for the industry again. From this point on I will keep it real. That's why I didn't change the name. It doesn't mean anything; it's only a label. It's not important, plus I am not running from anything or trying to hide. I want people to know that I face my adversaries. Don't get me wrong, though I love Ice Ice Baby, I just can't stand the image that was created for me at that time. Even though it worked and we sold 17 million records, I was treated like a puppet just to make a Hip Hop artist look like a novelty act. I was not designed to be that. I was turned into that by making my image more acceptable to a younger audience, but to tell the difference just listen to the music. It's Hip Hop not Pop like all the other novelty acts.

Velveeta was formed in the summer of 1995 in State College, PA as pretty much a joke, with the intention of playing occasionally doing only the finest in cheesy 80's music. By the following spring we were playing 3 nights a week and the joke apparently was on us. Since then we've played all over PA and East Coast in all kinds of situations (very little we haven't done at this point).

Their show features unusual instrumentation as tuned fire extinguishers, Theremin, trashcans, and a band comprised of Chicago’s finest musicians, boasting an impressive pedigree in the local and national jazz and rock scenes. Named after Tom Waits' 1988 live album, “Big Time,” the group formed in late 2006 as a concept band performing '70s/'80s radio hits such as Prince’s “I Would Die For You” and Fleetwood Mac’s, “Second Hand News” in the definite style of Tom Waits. The public repeatedly asked the band whether they actually played Tom Waits music (which they didn't at the time) and in 2009 they changed their direction and now play Tom Waits music exclusively.

One Lung Kenny formed in January 2005 by four guys who all worked together as stagehands and decided to bring diversity back to rock. The band released their debut CD “Far Beyond Freak” in August 2005 and later released a four song EP in January 2006. Since the releases, One Lung Kenny underwent a lineup change adding a new bass player to the band, which has resulted in a heavier sound and a more intense blend of songwriting. One Lung Kenny plans to begin recording new material in the summer of 2007. One Lung Kenny have been playing live shows for over 2 years with some of the biggest bands in Pittsburgh as well as opening for some national acts, such as Powerman 5000, Corrosion of Conformity, The Misfits, and Deep Purple. The band has also worked with Rusted Root’s Liz Berlin when she added vocals to the bands EP single “Alice” in January 2006. In February 2007, Pittsburgh radio station 93.7 K-Rock featured One Lung Kenny on their program “15 Minutes of Fame”, playing the bands first single “Blood on My Hands” with great reviews. About Eddie Money:
In the late 1960’s, the young Long Island, NY native left the comforts of suburbia and headed to San Francisco to pursue his dreams of becoming a rock star. In the early 1970’s, Eddie hooked up with legendary promoter Bill Graham; and exploded onto the music scene.

In 1977, Money released his self-titled debut record and struck Double Platinum with hits such as: “Baby Hold On” and “Two Tickets To Paradise.” His follow-up album, Life For The Taking was released in 1978 and reached Platinum status again. In 1982, The Money Man topped the charts numerous times with singles “Shakin,” “Think I’m In Love” and “Take A Little Bit.”

The Rhythm Devils began as the duo of Grateful Dead drummer Bill Kreutzmann and his percussionist partner Mickey Hart. The aftermath of this collaboration was the larger Rhythm Devils, which have made periodic reappearances over the years. It’s hard to argue with a band who expresses such an impassioned sentiment. And audiences across the country ain’t fightin’ with the raw power and electricity that pulsates throughout a Semi Precious Weapons performance. Their message is clear- music can be dangerous, dirty, and fun.

Originally formed in 1985 as a Black Flag-influenced hardcore punk band called Virulence, FU MANCHU has since become one of hard rock’s most celebrated names. The band released its first single “Kept Between Trees” in 1990 and in the years following, helped give rise to a celebrated style of heavy music tagged “stoner rock” alongside peers such as Kyuss, Monster Magnet and Sleep. Since its inception, the quartet has built itself a fanatical army of loyal enthusiasts all drawn to the group’s ridiculously catchy, unpretentious music, guitar-driven sound and carefree lyrics centered on "old muscle cars, choppers, vans, skateboarding and science fiction”. A jam band active since 1995, the Disco Biscuits play a distinct blend of rock, techno, jazz, soul, blues, and classical music that quickly took them to the upper echelon of the jam-roots-groove scene. Jon "The Barber" Gutwillig, Marc Brownstein, Sam Altman, and Aron Magner met on the University of Pennsylvania campus and formed the Disco Biscuits there in late 1995. They started out with frat party gigs all over Philly, but quickly moved to the nightclub scene. In 1996 they released their indie debut, Encephalous Crime. In addition to their own shows, they toured in support of Merl Saunders, the Black Crowes, the Jerry Garcia Band, and Morphine. Their highly danceable style -- guitarist/lead vocalist Jon Gutwillig has declared that the goal of the group is to create the wildest (or craziest) music of all time -- has been dubbed "trance fusion" and has drawn some comparisons to Frank Zappa (even though the bandmembers themselves don't hear it). They've been known to break into a classical piece -- or a slice of classic jazz -- in the middle of an extended rock jam. The Disco Biscuits' songs are written for the live show and a record then results -- not the other way around. The band was signed to Hydrophonics Records in 1998 and then released its second CD, The Uncivilized Area. Their third, They Missed the Perfume, hit the streets in 2001. With the group continually growing into a more adventurous combo as time went by, the more organic Señor Boombox came out in the fall of 2002. Altman left the group in 2005, but the band, with replacement drummer Allen Aucoin, continued to play (as well as curate its own successful electronic music festival, Camp Bisco), releasing two live albums: the two-disc The Wind at Four to Fly and the single-disc Rocket 3 in 2006. In 2009 the Disco Biscuits began recording their fifth studio album.

The Rhythm Devils began as the duo of Grateful Dead drummer Bill Kreutzmann and his percussionist partner Mickey Hart. Over the years, they transcended rock and roll drum stereotypes with polyrhythmic explorations of the world of percussion, using an extraordinary variety of instruments and approaches. The aftermath of this collaboration was the larger Rhythm Devils, which have made periodic reappearances over the years. The 2010 version includes Bill Kreutzmann and Mickey Hart, Keller Williams (guitar, vocals) in July and Tim Bluhm of the Mother Hips (guitar, vocals) on later dates, Davy Knowles (guitar, vocals), Sikiru Adepoju (talking drum), and Andy Hess (bass). Together, they will take music beyond the horizon to a universe where rhythm is in constant flux and sound has infinite potential.

Sacred Dominion, a Pittsburgh based band, is the musical brain-child of Mario Brescia, Daniel Corso, Jeff Anzelone and Benjamin J Chiarini. Founded in the spring of 2004, the four started writing and recording music with and emphasis on intricacy, diversity, melody and power. With the multiple influences within the band, the bands music has morphed into a diverse group of songs. “Pretty,” affirms Deftones singer and guitarist Chino Moreno when discussing their new full-length studio album, Diamond Eyes. “We’re not afraid to be pretty.” It’s an adjective most riff-heavy groups might avoid, but then, Deftones have never been your average hard rock band.

As kids, the Sacramento fivesome cut its teeth on Anthrax and The Smiths, Pantera and The Cure, skateboarding and “The Smurfs.” As a band out of high school, Deftones mixed trip hop with thrash, melodic vocals with crushing reverb, and yes, pretty with ugly. Thirty Seconds to Mars’ newest album title – This Is War – is more than a just a reference to the band’s personal battles, a commentary on global crises and economic turmoil and homage to their now infamous $30,000,000 lawsuit with Virgin Records. This Is War also represents the result of an 18-month creative battle, fought ferociously, but privately, inside a studio built into the side of a house tucked away in the Hollywood Hills. The result: a triumphant, sonically epic game-changer that builds on the vision laid out in their 2002 self-titled debut and 2005’s multi-platinum A Beautiful Lie.

This Is War is a major leap forward for Thirty Seconds to Mars, one that cements the trio (lead singer and guitarist Jared Leto, drummer Shannon Leto and guitarist Tomo Milicevic) as a world-class arena-crushing rock band. As the grandson of Hank Williams and the son of Hank Jr., he was country music royalty before he ever sang a note. But he didn't immediately follow his forebears musically, choosing instead to bang around the Southeast, playing drums in punk and hardcore combos and smoking prodigious amounts of weed. It was the outlaw spirit of his lineage, alive and unwell and floating in the bong water. By 1996, steep child support payments and his thirst for Mother Nature had forced Hank III onto to the straight and narrow, and he signed a contract with Music City giant Curb. The label issued Three Hanks: Men with Broken Hearts, which brought the voices of all three generations of Williams men together via the ghastly miracles of modern technology. It was about as far from what Hank III wanted as he could get and signaled the beginning of his stormy relationship with Curb.

Powered by the machine gun attack of his motor-mouth, Dirtball injects the group with a new found firepower that takes the group’s sound into uncharted territories. Previously a solo artist who recorded for Suburban Noize Records, Dirtball’s ability to snap off raps with jaw dropping results has forced critics to think twice about the capabilities of white rappers. PopMatters Magazine proclaimed Dirtball’s “rapid-fire rhymes and an ear for catchy choruses distinguish the rapper’s style, which at times sounds something like a sharper-edged Big Boi.”

From the perpetually down-on-its-luck, blue collar, rustbelt factory town of Flint, Michigan, comes new Fueled By Ramen signees The Swellers, a punk band that knows a thing or two about making hard, no-nonsense, but infinitely catchy music.

In mid-2008, Ed Kowalczyk found himself in an unfamiliar situation. As the singer and songwriting force behind the multi-platinum rock band Live, Kowalczyk had been playing music professionally for nearly two decades. But for the first time in his life, Kowalczyk felt no urgency to write songs or have anything to do with music for that matter. “I was in a malaise about the whole thing,” Kowalczyk says. “I felt like I had done everything I wanted to do and wasn’t sure if I wanted to re-engage.”

A contemplative person by nature, Kowalczyk turned inward for a period of soul-searching. “Then, out of nowhere, I got this incredible inspiration to do it again in this new way,” he says. “I realized that one of the limitations I was experiencing was the fact that I’d been doing it the same way for so long that I wondered what would happen if I challenged myself and tried things differently. From then on, it was like uncorking a bottle that had been shaken and it exploded into this writing fervor.”

On March 11, 2010, Great Big Sea celebrated their seventeenth birthday as a band. And like almost every one of their many anniversaries spent together, they celebrated it by playing a concert, this one in Omaha, Nebraska. For the players it was an important landmark, but for the fans, some of whom had travelled hundreds of miles, it was a chance to spend a night with a band that has come to define the energetic spirit of Newfoundland. Somewhere along the way, Great Big Sea ceased to be just a band – for the three core members and their assorted collaborators, it’s a way of life.

Spacehog mixes glam-rock influences, such as David Bowie and T. Rex, into its wall-of-distorted-guitars alternative-rock sound. The quartet formed in New York City in 1993 when British drummer Jonny Cragg moved there and got a job killing rats in the basement of an espresso bar. He met guitarist Antony Langdon, also from the U.K., at the coffeeshop, and the two decided to visit topless bars and jam together. Langdon's brother Royston soon joined the group as a vocalist, and they added guitarist Richard Steel to round out the lineup. Almost immediately after the lineup coalesced, they attracted the attention of Sire Records president Seymour Stein, and their debut album, Resident Alien, was released in 1996. It soon spawned the hit single and video "In the Meantime." The Chinese Album followed in 1998. Three years later, Spacehog had a new deal with Artemis Records and issued a third effort entitled The Hogyssey.

Ballyhoo! formed in their early high school years in the of summer 1995. Hailing from the small Maryland town of Aberdeen, the band has crafted a sound all their own, mixing pop, rock, reggae and punk rock. With three albums released, Ballyhoo! has sold a combined 10,000 hard copies and over 90,000 digital downloads, albums and singles. Most notably, the second album, “Do It for the Money!” was the album that put the band on the map. With songs like “Cali Girl” and “Cerveza”, the album showcased the band’s knack for pop radio songs and sing-along party anthems. The third effort, “Cheers!” was released in March 2008 to wide acclaim. It was produced by former 311 producer Scotch Ralston. The first song was mixed by 311 drummer Chad Sexton. Long time fans were thrilled over the new songs, calling it “the best one yet”.

Taking its name from novelist Jack London’s 1904 seafaring adventure, Sea Wolf has evolved organically from its hermetic origins in Alex Brown Church’s living room into a muscular, full-bodied musical entity with passion to burn. After adopting the sobriquet, Church burst onto the music scene in two-fisted fashion with the EP, Get to the River Before It Runs Too Low, and the subsequent full- length debut album, Leaves in the River, about which Interview magazine observed, "His music is both erudite and unvarnished, a blend of swirling melodies, literary balladry and damaged art-rock composition."

im not sure what is a dream and what is real. or if real is a real word and if words even exist outside of our imagination..i still can't say for certain if falling asleep is opening your eyes in the morning or closing them at night. and im lonely. but not sadly. everybody is alone. i want love like love wants love..oxygen and drifting clouds. and im not scared to be alive. these days more people are. money is an illusion. the world has been gaining some sort of momentum over "time" and every day it's spinning faster. we are growing up too quick. someday i'll start to. i write music because it feels like breathing. i sing because it is connection. i wish everybody would sing with me and without even gathering together sing so honestly that the songs could be carried on wind and heard at every point in the universe, even in translation. i wish there were no more bombs or bullets. and i wish we'd stop using politicians for negotiations. people are far too beautiful at heart to be introduced so cruelly into the blinding brilliant world. children. if there were to be a new beginning. would it all come out the same way again??

Some artists name an album after themselves because they’re stumped for another title. Brendan James grins at this suggestion. “As a fellow musician, I definitely get that,” he says, “but I actually had a good reason to do it. The album is self-titled because I feel like it’s my first recording that really showcases the different sides of me as a musician. It’s got everything from the mellow to the upbeat, to the somber to the unashamedly positive. My friends know me as the guy who loves to jump in the middle of a pick-up basketball game, but they also know me as the guy who needs to be reminded to stop spiraling when I start thinking about something too deeply. I have a lot of different sides and I wanted to make sure my music reflected that.”

A native of Syracuse, New York, Martin Sexton grew up in the 80's, uninterested in the sounds of the day, and fueled his dreams on the timeless sounds of classic rock and roll. Sexton eventually migrated to Boston, where he began to build his following singing on the streets of Harvard Square and gradually working his way through the scene. His 1992 collection of self-produced demo recordings, In The Journey, was recorded on an old 8-track in a friend's attic. He managed to sell 20,000 copies out of his guitar case busking.

"It started as a twisted dream"... 30 years ago in a small town in New Jersey called Lodi. It was there in April of 1977, at the dawn of the punk movement, that the Misfits were born. Taking the title of Marilyn Monroe's last movie as their name in a move to immortalize her image - singer Glenn Danzig and bassist Jerry Only set out to make an impression. They wound up making history and creating a legacy that's power has not only stood the test of time, but also transcended into an entirely new generation. Lineup changes followed and by early 1980, the band coalesced around co-founders, Glenn Danzig and Jerry Only along with guitarist Doyle Wolfgang Von Frankenstein (Jerry's youngest brother). Throughout the span of their career, the Misfits audience has developed into an army of "fiends" (the term for die hard Misfits fans) generating more interest today than ever before.

The Steepwater Band formed in Chicago in 1998 ignited by a passion for the city's electric blues. The power trio who quickly progressed from covering Robert Johnson, Muddy Waters and John Lee Hooker to writing compelling originals has crafted a rock n' roll sound best described as heavy Americana. For a decade the band has gigged relentlessly, performing nearly 125 shows per year and bringing their songbook of gritty Delta blues, soulful boogie, and backwoods psychedelia to audiences across the States and abroad.

The Sound Of Sunshine -- the inspired and inspiring new album by Michael Franti & Spearhead -- is a kind of musical sun shower, a bright, beautiful and often buoyant song cycle created to bring all kinds of listeners a sense of hope during rough and rainy times for so many in our world.

28 North has been writing music, recording, traveling, and slamming out live performances for five years. Although all four members are in their early twenties, they have produced a significant body of work with over 100 original songs in their ever-growing repertoire. Based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, 28 North brings big crowds and raucous standing ovations wherever they play.

The "Goodbye, Goodnight Tour" will kick off in early October and run through the end of November. The band's first performance together in over 3 years took place in Singapore on June 19th and while the long term future of the band beyond this tour is unclear, the "Goodbye, Goodnight Tour" will mark the band's indefinite farewell. The band plans to announce openers and tour dates in the weeks to come. Says SWEITZER "I am looking forward to playing music live with Zach, Jacob, Mark and Dave again. It did not take long during rehearsals to see that we have chemistry as a band even after being apart for 3 years. It is already apparent that there is a renewed energy and enjoyment in playing live together again." GEHRING adds, "Despite all the change that we've been through, both personally, and as MAE, the underlying creative current is still refreshingly strong."

And for the future? Says ELKINS, "The future is as unpredictable as it has always been. We will take advantage of this tour to express our gratitude to our fans and enjoy the bond that we've grown and are growing again among the five of us."

Ian Anderson, known throughout the world of rock music as the flute and voice behind the legendary Jethro Tull, celebrates his 40th year as a recording and performing musician in 2008.

This band started literally on Jan 1, 1994 and played its first show ever at a place called CHEEKS PUB in Aston, PA. Now, 14+ years later, here we are...still. You can't get rid of us, we will not go away, so suck it! =) Life is good, we love what we do and totally give props to anyone who has ever paid a cover charge to come rock out with us over the last 14+ years and beyond. For over seventeen years FUNGUS has served as Western Pennsylvania's premier jam band, featuring a tribute to the Grateful Dead and the everlasting legacy of Jerry Garcia. Fungus specializes in recreating the festive atmosphere that followed the Dead to each of their concerts. In addition, Fungus shows highlight a host of strong originals as well as a full compliment of classic rock covers. In June of 1991, Terry Callahan, former guitarist of MCA recording artists The Zippers, formed Fungus with guitarist Dave Gasbarro and drummer Matt Montgomery. Recently added bassist Dan Eaby rounds out the core of a band that rocks with high octane rhythm. No two shows are ever the same! The Capitol Steps began as a group of Senate staffers who set out to satirize the very people and places that employed them. In the years that followed, many of the Steps ignored the conventional wisdom ("Don't quit your day job!"), and although not all of the current members of the Steps are former Capitol Hill staffers, taken together the performers have worked in a total of eighteen Congressional offices and represent 62 years of collective House and Senate staff experience.

Since they began, the Capitol Steps have recorded 29 albums, including their latest, Obama Mia . They've been featured on NBC, CBS, ABC, and PBS, and can be heard 4 times a year on National Public Radio stations nationwide during their Politics Takes a Holiday radio specials.
